Blip

Up to 2390 words on my story so far, and it's progressing nicely. My protagonist is currently 2800 miles from his destination. Plus, yesterday I thought up an interesting idea for another story, so apparently this "just write and the ideas will come" thing is working for me. That's nice.

I finished Crystal Rain last night — what a great climax. In fact, the entire second half of the book really moves, and it kept me hooked the entire time. That was a fun reading experience. Now I'm moving on to Karl Schroeder's The Engine of Recall, a short story collection. Schroeder's mind works in fascinating ways, and his writing is unlike anything I've read recently. He's able to take complex ideas and explain them clearly and succinctly in a way that gets the concept across while not slowing the story down.

The temperature has been sitting comfortably in the high 20s and low 30s for the past few days, but today it's dropped to -4° F with a wind chill that makes it feel like -24° F. I'm staying indoors all day if I possibly can.

Yeah, a friend of mine was complaining yesterday about having to ride his bike to work in 50° weather. Pthtbhttbhtbt.
