Ack blah plt.

Remember that thrush? Well, it's back.

After taking all my medicine and being thrush-free, I said to myself, "That was unpleasant. I won't let it happen again." So since then, immediately after taking my Advair inhaler, I've brushed my teeth and used mouthwash to make absolutely sure the yeast wouldn't grow.

I think maybe the mouthwash killed all the bacteria in my mouth except the yeast or something, so now the thrush is back and I'm back on the pills. Sigh.

I take this stuff quite frequently. I buy it from my pharmacist; she has it in a fridge behind the counter to keep it fresh. It may not kill the thrush on its own, but it might, and it will certainly help prevent it from coming back. What kind of medication do they give you for thrush, anyway? I had it mild once, but I also had the other kind going on, and the doctor gave me a Diflucan for that, which killed both problems.

I've started taking acidophilus tablets already (like florajen, but some other brand) to try and help balance things out a little better, but thanks!

The medication is clotrimazole, which like diflucan (fluconazole) and metronidazole is a yeast-killer. I think clotrimazole is more suited to oral treatment, though.

Re: that's why I quit using Advair
Throughout my life I've tried pretty much all of the asthma medications on the market, I think, including serevent and flovent. Nothing's worked as well as Advair, though.

Luckily, these days, my asthma only needs regular treatment for about three or four months during the winter, and the rest of the year it's perfectly fine. So if I can just make it through March or so, I should be okay.
