I am allergic to furry animals. This is unfortunate, because I absolutely love cats. My parents always had cats while I was growing up, and so I spent the first 18 years of my life in an asthmatic stupor. Since I moved out, my asthma has been fine (in fact, I haven't had to use an inhaler for over a year) but I really haven't spent any time with cats.

Today, Sarah and I went for a walk in the little garden behind our apartment buildings. While we were there, we heard a loud, piteous meowing coming from the woods nearby, and, lo and behold, there was a gorgeous orange and white cat. He came over when I called, and turned out to be the friendliest cat ever. He loved the attention I gave him, and purred loudly, and rubbed his head against Sarah and I, and oh! I was happy.

Now I have had a good fifteen or twenty minutes of Cat Time and I am pleased as punch. Someday I hope Sarah and I suddenly stop being allergic to cats so that we can have one of our own. Maybe a Sphynx!

Those allergy tests where they do rows and rows of pinpricks on your back or your arm? Those sucked mightily. But I got so used to needles from having so many allergy-related doctor visits as a kid that now getting shots or blood drawn doesn't even make me blink. :)

I like bunnies too, but as it turns out I'm also allergic to them. And dogs, and hamsters, and guinea pigs, etc. etc. etc.

I'm not allergic to birds, though. We have a maroon-bellied conure named Petrie who is cranky and loud but we love him anyway. :)

ewwww birds freak me out for some reason!! That parrot at Critter Hut was always right behind me as I would pick up stuff for the bunny and it would freak me out big time.

Ya i grew immune to needles when I was like 11 until ummm now haha and was sick all the time. The people at the lab in the Children's Hospital in Hartford knew my name ha how sad. So do the people here at Health Services--they're actually pretty good there considering that most of them are students. I figured that because I have no problem with it I'd be a great blood donor, but the first time i tried to donate, my blood sugar was so low and I was so anemic that the low of blood made my pressure drop too much. I told them to finish the donation but they wouldn't let me....too bad ha.

No matter how little I flinch when even the worst dr. is trying to put an IV in my hand though (they never learn that you can't put an IV in my hand--my veins are like way too small like a little kid's), I never get ok with hospitals and dr's :-/ The children's hospital in CT wasn't like a hospital--it was all bright and happy. I hate hospitals. Spend too much time there.
