The way businesses *should* do things

There is a little restaurant in Narragansett called Crazy Burger. They have a lot of really excellent food as well as a good selection of vegetarian and vegan entrees, so Sarah and I like to eat there every now and then. A couple weeks ago, they sent me a card that said, "Happy birthday! Bring this card in anytime this month and get a free entree!" (My birthday is next Monday.)

So we went, and we had our meals, and I gave them the card. And, lo and behold, they actually deducted the cost of my entree even though it was more than Sarah's.

If it had been a chain restaurant, they undoubtedly would have deducted the cost of the lowest-priced entree, because, hey, they save a few bucks. But Crazy Burger did the right thing, and so I love them and will undoubtedly go back many times, and their net gain will be much higher.

When did businesses start forgetting that the absolute best thing you can do is make customers happy?

Crazy Burger rocks...my grandmother and her cute little old group of friends go there all the time when they are in Rhode Island...

being one in "that kind of business", that last comment is sadly very true. They make money, then decide they want more, so they cut labor costs. This only affects the customer poorly. The customer suffers, the staff suffers, and all for what? Another lousy hundred bucks or so. Whats more sad, is that the customers get accustomed to receiving such service as a norm. I remember when customers ALL received the royal treatment. That's how I always try to treat mine, that's why my shifts (no matter where I go) always have MORE sales than any others. The public service industry has gone to waste in my opinion.

btw, Happy Birthday!(and if it is a bday promo, then whichever entree you had is the one that would be deducted. It's not like the buy one get one free types). I celebrated my 39th on Good Friday, yet I still feel so much younger than that.
