It's all very Buffling.

mangofandango and I have been Buffy the Vampire Slayer addicts of late. We watched the first season (12 episodes) a week or so ago, and this weekend we got the second season DVDs (22 episodes) from the library and have watched almost all of them already.

The third season is out on DVD as well, but that's it so far. And the library system doesn't have them. We'll either rent each disk at $4.50 a pop from Blockbuster (eeeagh!) or just buy the whole set, which would probably end up being more economical anyway. But once we've watched that, we're out of Buffy to watch. How bothersome. I expect I can find a bunch of episodes online to tide us over until the next few seasons get released on DVD, but that's a long and tiresome project.

What a fantastic series of shows. I've sort of followed the storyline and watched occasionally over the last two seasons, but I never really got into it until Sarah brought the first season home from the library a couple weeks ago. Now, I'm completely hooked, and I love it. Kudos to Joss et al.

Unfortunately I cannot watch PAL Region 2 DVDs on my player. I know that is my fault for buying an inexpensive DVD player however I cannot afford one of the really snazzy ones with region-setting and PAL conversion. So for now, all that is available to me is seasons 1 through 3.

over here most of the cheap players are regionless

You are lucky. Here in the U.S. consumers are treated like dirt and abused and annoyed as much as possible. The companies think this will endear them to us. And we are all lazy and complacent and never do anything about it, so it will never change. Hooray!

Those were the days when Buffy rocked -- ever since it got moved to UPN (last year), the series has suffered.
