Feelin' purple!

A couple days ago, I dyed my hair purple. I have pretty dark hair, so it just sort of looks like purple highlights or something, but it's still noticeably purple. It's easiest to see in natural light, so I sat on our bed under the skylight and took a picture. My nose looks unusually pointy from that angle.

This is fun! For a long time, I wanted to dye my hair some odd color, but I worked at jobs where it wouldn't be appreciated. Now I've been self-employed and working from home for years, so I finally did it.

I went out shopping yesterday and didn't get any odd looks, I guess because it's probably too subtle to really look all that unusual. Oh well. Maybe I'll give it a second dose later in the week just to see if that makes the effect stronger.

I believe that for best effect, you should bleach your hair first.

For even better effect, bleach your hair, then dye it, then bleach it lightly again for highlights to make it look like your hair is somehow naturally bright purple.

Edit: I fail at HTML.

Yeah, I considered bleaching it first, but decided that sounded pretty harsh and kind of drastic for my first attempt. Maybe in the future I'll give it a shot, but for now just the purplish hint is pretty good.

My sister got me a shiny purple and pink necktie just the other day, too, so now I have a matching outfit. If you can call hair and a necktie an outfit.

perhaps a neon-green stripe off-center would make it more noticeable, if that's what you're going for.

I'd suggest getting it back to brown next time you visit home, though. Mom might just flip. :)
