I snowboarded!

SnowboardingI wanted to post this a couple weeks ago, but y'know, holidays got in the way and I didn't get around to it. Anyway, back on Friday, Dec. 14th, my brother (behind me in the photo) and sister-in-law and I went snowboarding at Stratton, a huge ski resort in southern Vermont, and had a blast. I had never snowboarded before, but I decided to learn since my sister-in-law is a snowboarding instructor and hey, free lessons!

We started on the bunny hill which had this neat covered conveyor belt to take you to up to the top, and I practiced the basics--standing up without falling over, stuff like that--until I could consistently go short distances without killing myself, and then we spent the rest of the day on the green trails. By the end of the day I was worn out and quite sore, but I had made a lot of progress and I'm looking forward to going again, which is scheduled to happen at the end of this month.

I snowboarded!
Perhaps I will join you at the luxurious resorts at the end of the month, where they cover the bunny-hill transportation units for the rider's pleasure. Nifty!

Oh, whoops, I guess I wasn't clear about that. We're not going back to Stratton next time; we're heading up to Smuggler's Notch. The only reason we went to Stratton is because we had free passes--normally it'd cost about $70, which is, um, a lot.

Yes, I heard about Smug's. I was just assuming that it was somewhere around the level of Stratton. Any idea about pricing?

Re: I snowboarded!
It's much smaller than Stratton. A full-day ticket for you would be $44.
