i will never even attempt to use CheapTickets.com again
I tried to buy plane tickets through CheapTickets.com today. They had the best prices I could find, and that's what I wanted even though the flight itineraries weren't great. I went through their whole process, giving them lots of info and finally clicking the purchase button, excited to actually be booking our flights to and from Italy. After a minute, a page popped up with an error message that said they couldn't actually book those flights, sorry. So I tried several other similar but slightly different flights, each time with the same (infuriating) response.
Then I got a call from Discover card, inquiring as to why I had five charges for $1610 on my card, which put me far past my available credit.
What on earth kind of system charges the card before verifying the flights are available, and then doesn't even tell you it put the charges in? Why on earth would this stupid thing be set up this way?
I just spent half an hour on the phone with both CheapTickets and Discover, and got things sorted out and the charges reversed. Needless to say, I won't be using CheapTickets again, but I still love my Discover card.
