Halloween is nearing (sorta), so it's time for witches and warlocks alike to start mixing up their mysterious potions. On LiveJournal, the best potion ingredients are the users themselves! So let's start mixing it up...

I'm not sure if it's just my background colours or what, but when it's posted in a journal it's impossible to read because it's yellow on white background. Can that be changed? I noticed the same thing with the last one.

Sure, I'll force the text to black. Try it now and see how it looks. :)

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I put my handle in the box above and clicked the Mix button. I got a new page that said what I am. But no mixing. Also, I could not select any of the HTML text in the text boxes nor interact with the new Mix dialog. All other web pages continued working normally. I'm using Mac OS X and Safari. I'm still tinkering to see if I hold my head at the right angle it might work (works for the phone).

Someone else has reported having problems with it using Safari, too. It appears that Safari has
[Error: Irreparable invalid markup ('<a http://www.mozilla.org/products/firebird/">') in entry. Owner must fix manually. Raw contents below.]

Someone else has reported having problems with it using Safari, too. It appears that Safari has <a href="http://diveintomark.org/safari/>numerous CSS bugs</a>, and since my site uses CSS heavily, it's probably causing problems. I don't know if this is <i>definitely</i> the cause, but it looks like it might be a likely culprit.

Have you tried <a href="http://www.mozilla.org/products/firebird/">Firebird</a> lately? :)

A plausible diagnosis, I agree.

Oh weird. Part of your reply vanished ("It appears Safari... ...likely culprit."). For a moment, I thought you knew of a clever way to go back and edit a previously posted comment or an official way to hide text. You left out a closing quote on a link and the missing text appears in the link above. I was able to read it all just fine in my text-based mail reader.

I haven't tried any of the Mozilla half-breeds since Comino went idle (and started abending on a regular basis). But you're the second person to suggest looking into Firebird now. I'll check it out.

Whoops, sorry about the missed-quote. Comment-editing would be really handy.

I switched to Firebird on both my Win2k and my Linux box a few months ago, and haven't looked back. It's been wonderful.

I'm using Safari and it doesn't work here either. Head tilting is not helping. On the other hand, I'd really like to know how you make these cute little toys. Would you be willing to tell me?

Well, first I use my smaert brane to figure out what might be fun. Then I use my Perl knowledge to write a script that does it! And then I put it on my website and let people use it.

If you're interested in meme development and want to learn more about it and discuss it, feel free to join memedev, the community I created just for this purpose. It's very low-traffic right now, but I hope it picks up in the future.

If you want some example code, you can check out the Perl source code for my sitcom generator.

I'm assuming it is my layout (S2 Component) that is affecting it, but the text on my mixer defaults to white (here). It has to be ctrl-a'ed in order to be read.

Just thought I would let you know :)
